Marja van Kampen moved to Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford in 2013.
Marja van Kampen graduated from the Akademie for Beeldende Kunsten in Arnhem, The Netherlands with a degree in Painting and Printmaking in 1972. She moved to Ireland in 1982 and was a founder member of Artspace Studios. Later she set up her own studio in Galway, where she installed a printing press. In 2013 she moved to Enniscorthy where she set up her studio.Her work is on show in The Kenny Gallery, Galway.
She has trained in the techniques of Etching, Lithography, Woodcut and Silkscreen printing. Over the last few years she has specialized in a combination of Collagraph and Carborandum prints.
Travelling has been a major inspiration for her work. Being attracted by the vibrant colours of the South she has spend time in India and Southern Europe. From India she returned with a collection of objects, tapestries and photos, and these images she simplifies and reworks in her prints with the use of intricate layers of collagraphed plates.
She exhibits regularly with the Graphic Studio Gallery, Dublin, and her work has been selected several times for the Impressions printing exhibition, in the Galway Arts Centre.
She also participated in the Impressions, Art of the State, Touring Exhibition. Her prints are in the collection of the Office of Public Works, Dublin, the Mayo County Council, Allied Irish Bank, Dublin. She has worked for a short period with the Cork Printmakers, where she won a Printmakers Award.
